Saskatchewan - "The Land of the Living Skies"

We got home from Saskatchewan Sunday night. It was a really fun trip. Aubrey did great traveling and was a really well behaved the whole time. She was a little shy - but at least let people play with her - just wouldn't let too many people hold her. It was great to see family and introduce many of them to Aubrey for the first time. I will be posting lots of pics from the trip, but first I wanted to show what Radisson, Saskatchewan is like.

People have asked us what Saskatchewan is like - and Jeff has described it as "flat". It is called the "Land of the Living Skies" because it feels like the sky just goes on and on forever. So, I took a panoramic video from a little hilltop so you can see just how "flat" it is.

Jeff's parents no longer live in Fielding, the town Jeff grew up in. Fielding is no longer a little town anymore. Everyone pretty much moved away and the town just shut down. Except now some of the Tanner's live there (Jeff's sisters family) in the house Jeff grew up in. Anyway, his parents just live about 15 min. away in Radisson. It is a really cute, small country town. I love visiting there because it is so relaxing. Everything is slow paced. Here are some pics of main street.

Anyway, it was a great trip. It's great to get away from busy city life and enjoy some quite in the country. Keep posted for more pictures of our trip!

Wow, the memories! I think Tammy and Don had their reception in some hall in Radisson. It certainly is flat... reminds me of Texas, but add a few million extra people to the town. Was this your first trip to Sask Heather? Just wondered if you were in complete shock. Glad you guys made it home safe!
