Look Dad, I can clap!

It seems like everyday Aubrey is learning something new. Today she clapped for the first time. I was getting ready for a primary activity and Aubrey was playing in our bedroom. Jeff, walked in and Aubrey saw him and just started clapping. It's like she was saying, "I am so excited to see you, Dad!" She has been clapping all day now. She grins from ear to ear cause she is so proud of her new accomplishment!

Reading Stories

I tried to upload this the weekend before my stay at the hospital - but I was having trouble with blogspot. Aubrey is even better at turning pages now .

Aubrey loves storytime. Lately she has been getting better at turning the pages herself! She has always liked lift-the-flap books, but just learned this weekend how to lift the flaps herself. I, of course, think it is darling and wanted to share this video.

Funny Video

Here is a funny video from SNL that my Dad sent to me.

Big Girl Cup

We have a cup in the bathtub to do Aubrey's hair. This last week she has been grabbing it and puts it to her mouth. She either tries to drink the water out of it or starts making sounds because she likes how it echoes. So, today at dinner I thought I would put a little water in a normal cup and put it on her tray to see what she would do with it. Well she immediately picked it up and put it to her mouth and started drinking from it. What a little smarty pants! She does need to work on flow regulation though because I think just as much water spilled down her front as went in her mouth :). It was so darn cute though to see her drinking like a big girl! She was so excited too. As soon as she would finish the water she would motion for me to fill it up again!

Easter Videos

This is Aubrey Easter Morning. She is always real cautious with new things - but she was real interested in her Easter Basket. For the last few weeks, whenever she hears music she starts to dance. You can see that in the video whenever her lamb sings!

This is our Easter Egg hunt for Aubrey. There wasn't much hunting involved so instead we'll call it an Easter Egg crawl.

Happy Easter

Aubrey has had a fun first Easter!

Here are some pictures of Easter Morning checking out her loot from the Easter Bunny.

Here is Aubrey in her Easter dress for church.

After church she found her Easter Basket and played with it for awhile.

Then we had an Easter Egg Hunt. She had fun shaking the eggs after she found them and then eating a little snack inside.
Then we read her stories that the Easter Bunny brought her.
Then she had a nice nap with dad! Sorry I don't have a picture of that.
I have been trying to upload some video - but it's not working. Hopefully later I will have the video uploaded!

Easter Eggs

So, I wasn't planning on coloring Easter Eggs this year. I figured Aubrey wasn't quite old enough yet. Well, my sweet husband went to pick up my prescriptions and bought an egg coloring kit while there. He thought Aubrey would like the bright colors. What a fun daddy! So, we colored Easter Eggs on Tuesday night.

Aubrey was real curious about the whole thing. I think Daddy was right - she liked the bright colors!

She also really liked the stickers - especially pulling them all off the sheet!

Aubrey Meets the Easter Bunny

Grandma Bagley and I took Aubrey to meet the Easter Bunny today.

Here she is getting all pretty for the picture with the Easter Bunny!

At the mall seeing the Easter Bunny for the first time. Aubrey thinks, "Grandma's got me, so I'm safe. He's pretty interesting."

"I'm even closer now, but Mom is here - so the Easter Bunny is still my friend"

"How dare you both leave me with this Scary Bunny!"

So we didn't get a cute picture with just Aubrey and the Easter Bunny - but at least we got a decent one with the three of us.

Gallbladder

I have had some requests to post the picture of my gallbladder/gallstones on the blog. I wasn't sure if everyone would appreciate it - so I uploaded it to my Ringo account. If you want to see it then click on the link below, otherwise I have spared you from the yuckiness!

Hospital Update

So, I was hoping to be on my way home by now. Unfortunately, I came down with a pretty bad case of pneumonia. This morning they thought that I might have had a blood clot in my lungs so we were actually relieved to hear that it was only pneumonia. So, now I am here for 2 or 3 more days :(. I also have to be on an antibiotic that it is unsafe to nurse Aubrey - so I am sad about that as well. But, luckily my dad has been able to be with me at the hospital all morning and my mom has been taking care of Aubrey. So, at least Jeff didn't have to worry about me or Aubrey while he has been at work. Hopefully we will have smooth sailing from here on out and I'll be home this weekend!

Under the Knife!

So, I have had a rough weekend. I have been having gall bladder attacks for the last little while - but they were only coming once a month. Well, last Monday I had one then again on Wednesday. On Saturday, one came on at 6 am and didn't go away! Finally, Monday morning, I could take the pain no longer! Jeff & Aubrey took me to the hospital. At the hospital we found out that I had 3 stones almost an inch in diameter and several smaller ones. My white blood cell count and billirubin levels were up also, which suggests an infection. So, I ended up going into surgery that afternoon! During surgery, Dr. Cook, found that my gall bladder was acutely infected and that there was a stone lodged in the bile duct, which was the cause of my persistent pain. Since it was infected, I wasn't able to have same day surgery. I am still recovering in the hospital, and hope to be able to go home tomorrow. I am in some pain, but it is much more manageable then the persistent pain from the stone! On the upside, Aubrey was such an angel at the hospital yesterday. She was there for 12 hours with almost no fussing! She reached for me once and I gave her a side hug and told her that daddy had to hold her today. From then on she was more than content to be with dad! That was such a blessing.

Tender Moment

So, Aubrey is very much a mama's girl. If mom is near she pretty much won't go to anyone but her. Well today Aunt Summer came to visit. I was telling her how Aubrey is understanding and responding to a lot of words. I told her that she knows what stories are and hugs and kisses. So, Summer asked her, "Aubrey can I have a hug?" Aubrey reached up to Summer and put her arms around her neck and gave her a hug! It only lasted a few moments - but it was one of the sweetest things I have seen. Summer is a very lucky girl - cause Aubrey has never done that to anyone except Mom and Dad!

Daddy's Girl

Could Aubrey look any more like her dad? Jeff's sister, Tammy, gave us this photo of Jeff when he was around Aubrey's age and I couldn't believe the resemblance!

A Day at the Park

I am so glad that the weather is warming up! Last spring/summer Aubrey and I took walks almost everyday. This week has been warm enough to take walks again and Aubrey loves it! We stopped at a little playground today and Aubrey swung on a swing for the first time. She loved it!

A Mommy Obsession

I don't know why but I am OBSESSED with watching Aubrey feed herself. I think it is just so cute watching her pick up the little finger foods and grabbing the sippy cup and taking a drink when she is thirsty! It must be because not too long ago she was completely dependent on me for everything. Now, she can do so many things on her own. I just love watching all of her new developments! As is evident from this blog!

Primary Activity

We have a Primary Activity coming up and the theme is preparing for General Conference. I had the idea of making a game where the kids could learn about our Prophet and Apostles. I found out a fun interest on each of the apostles. Then I made this wheel to turn it into a game. So, they will spin the arrow. There is a graphic of the apostles interest under the photo of the Apostle and the kids will turn the red circle to reveal it. Anyway, the wheel turned out better than I thought it would so I thought I would share it. (Really I figured we ought to have a post not related to Aubrey on here - otherwise we should rename the blog to "All About Aubrey"!)

Aubrey Points

Aubrey pointed for the first time today. She's been working at it for a while. When we would ask her where things were she would hold her whole hand out in the direction. Today, as Jeff was leaving the room I asked her where her daddy was. First, she held out her whole hand and then slowly and deliberately she pointed her index fingers and curled the other fingers in. It was so cute to see her work so hard. She has pointed out a few more things this evening. I couldn't get a real cute picture. The first one she had just been pointing - but when the camera snapped she had moved her fingers. The second one you can see her pointing at me - but her expression is so serious! Learning all of these new things is such hard work for one so small!

Carson's Baptism

My friend Stacy's son, Carson, was baptized on Saturday. It was a beautiful baptism. He is such a sweet boy. Jeff was asked to be one of the witnesses and to be a part of the confirmation. He really enjoyed that. Here are some pictures of Carson and the party afterwards.
