Holiday Lights

Aubrey loves Christmas lights. Jeff put ours up a little before Thanksgiving. There was a nice Saturday so he thought he would take the opportunity before the good weather passed. We weren't planning on putting them on until later. Well, the night that he had put them up - he wanted to show them to Aubrey & I. Well, Aubrey was hooked. She loved them. Every day and night since she runs to the front room window points and says "Ho Ho Ho". Or if she can reach the remotes she'll just turn them on herself. So, we ended up putting our lights on a bit early. Also, if we are driving at night she wants to stop at all of the houses with lights. If she sees one down a side road she will point and say "that way". So, on Monday for FHE we thought we would go see the Holiday Lights display at Thanksgiving point. We did a joint FHE with the Smith's.

It was really fun because we took a horse drawn wagon through the light display. The girls were just mesmerized by the lights. We couldn't even get them to look at the camera for pictures because they wouldn't take their eyes off of the lights. Some of the Santa's and snowmen waved and Aubrey loved waving back at them. Well after we finished the wagon driver told us that 2 of Santa's reindeer were there visiting. So, of course we had to go and see them too. They weren't terribly friendly but Aubrey did get to touch one of their horns briefly. Then we found out why the reindeer were there - because they had brought Santa who was just inside. So, of course we had to go see him too! The girls were so excited. When we were at the front of the line Aubrey kept pointing to herself asking if it was her turn. As we got closer to Santa her excitement turned to reservation. Then as we sat her on Santa's lap her reservation turned to fear and crying. So we had to make it a family picture with Aubrey on my knee. Maybe we'll have better luck next time!

Geode Hunting

On Saturday Jeff went to looking for Geodes with his friend Phil and his son Adam. He had a fantastic time. He wanted to turn around and go right back. Geodes are lava from volcano that as they were hardening they had water trapped inside of them. So, they are hollow on the inside with crystals that have formed. Jeff came back with a bunch of them.

I totally blog lifted this off of Julie & Phil's blog - I hope they don't mind!

Nothing says Christmas like a horse drawn carriage - how fun! You guys are always so busy doing such fun things, I get exhausted just looking at the wonderful photos, we're a lazy Holiday family.

I was curious to find out if Aubrey was going to be able to sit on Santa's lap without crying. Well next year she will be a big sister so maybe she will be able to do it.
