Gingerbread Houses

For Family Home Evening Monday night we made Gingerbread Houses. Aubrey had soooo much fun. It made all the hard work it takes to get it all together worth it!

Here she is waiting patiently as Mom & Dad construct the houses. Every minute or so she would ask if she could put candy on it. But, she didn't get fussy while we made her wait, she just remained excited.

Finally the moment arrived that she could start decorating! I just put a checkerboard pattern on one side of the roof with frosting and let her go to town. She would put some of one candy on and then say, "Maybe I should put some of that on." While pointing out a different candy.

Brookie was really good and stayed pretty well entertained watching us, eating snacks and playing in her high chair. Next year she'll be able to participate!

Once the one side of her roof was so full it was starting to fall off, I turned it around and had her do the other side.

After the first was completed, she helped with the one Daddy was working on and then helped with the one Mommy was working on.

Below she is decorating the Christmas tree with sprinkles. I think she worked on that for like 30 min. She was so into her decorating that she didn't even eat a single piece of candy!

After decorating for 2 hours, we had to convince her that they were all done.

Here we are with our houses. We did 3 because Aubrey is going to deliver one to each of her 2 nursery teachers and we want one to display at home.

I had to get some close ups of Aubrey's roofs and Christmas tree for memories sake.

Aubrey's excitement over everything is making the holidays so much fun!

Below is the headband I made for Aubrey on Thanksgiving. I couldn't get a good shot facing the flower, because Aubrey was too wiggly.

We had our first big snowstorm on Sunday. Aubrey was thrilled. She went to Church with Daddy and just begged to run around in the snow when they got home.

After she was done there was cute little tracks all over the backyard.

Monday she wanted to go out again and told me, "This time you need to put mittens on my hands so I can make snowballs.
