Temple Square

Last night we went to see the Christmas Lights at Temple Square. It started snowing right as we set off, and we contemplated turning back and going home, but I am so glad that we didn't. There was such a nice spirit at the Temple and it turned out to be a really fun family time.

The girls did great in the car ride. Aubrey asked us every couple of minutes if we were there yet. I started getting annoyed, but then remembered doing that myself as a child and it became funny to me.

We picked up some dinner on our way into the city but decided Aubrey should eat in the stroller as we made the trek to the temple.

The spirit was wonderful and the girls were really happy and interested in all of the lights and the people.

Brooke pretty much did not make a peep the entire time. She was just fascinated by the sights.

We watched the nativity story with the life size nativity scene. Aubrey watched with such intent, it was so sweet to see her so interested in the story. Jeff tried to leave while they were singing the last song, but Aubrey said, "Daddy we have to wait until the song is over."

This morning Aubrey told me "At Family Home Evening there was a small statue of baby Jesus, but at the Temple there was a Big statue of baby Jesus." I think having back to back experiences with the Nativity story really hit it home to Aubrey. It makes us so happy to see her so interested in the real reason for Christmas.

There were so many people around the "Christus" that we didn't get to enjoy it as much as Aubrey wanted. Daddy promised her that we'd go back sometime when it is not so crowded.

Brookie was so cute drinking her bottle. She had so many layers on that she couldn't bend her arms to hold the bottle, so we had to prop it up instead.

It was such a nice night, I am glad we took the time to go this year!
